The Cabinet Office employ around 2,050 staff and there are also around 700 people working for the Crown Commercial Service, an executive agency. Their main offices are in London, but they have staff based around the country – to reflect this, many of their vacancies are located across the UK.

Allen Lane were selected as the exclusive recruitment partner for the Cabinet Office’s new Chief Digital & Information Office directorate, as they sought to add 40 permanent hires to replace expensive contingent labour while increasing appointments in non-London geographic locations, namely Bristol and Manchester.
We created a dynamic and engaging advertising strategy, giving prospective candidates detail on the directorate’s separate ‘pillars’ (Data, Technology, Cyber, Change & Deliver). The use of LinkedIn for advertising and headhunting, alongside specialist job-board use (e.g. Jobserve) ensured we delivered diverse shortlists to supplement applicants via Civil Service Jobs. At the height of the campaign, our delivery team were servicing 20 live jobs simultaneously.
Allen Lane delivered on all vacancies across the campaign, including 15 Cyber roles. Vacancies recruited to were at HEO-Grade 6, with many eligible for a DDaT allowance to supplement the base salaries. Onboarding processes were often elongated due to the need for security checks, Allen Lane ensured regular contact with the successful candidates throughout. 40% of appointments were female, including a Head of Programme Delivery, as well as 2 appointments via the Disability Confident Scheme.
