Alex is responsible for our Healthcare finance practice and leads the North West regional office having returned to his home town in 2016 after over 8 years in our London office, where he developed his outstanding reputation for customer service and real sectoral insight. He exudes professionalism, a fresh perspective, a cheery disposition and a wealth of experience from over 20 years in the recruitment industry, in the UK and Australia.
Clients choose him for his honesty and reliability, and for his track record of delivery.
Widely considered the nicest person to ever work in recruitment, Alex loves his museums and excursions and is a National Trust member, which enables him to release his children into the wild over the weekend. Alex has been sung to by the lead singer of the Lighthouse Family and, when wearing a hat, has been mistaken for Woody from Toy Story.
After living in Australia for 2 years, Amber returned to the UK to study Philosophy at the University of Liverpool. Since graduating in June 2022, and taking a 3-month trip to South America, she has been specialising in interim IT / Digital Recruitment across the Government and Charity sectors. Amber oozes energy, charisma and intelligence and is incredibly passionate about the quality of her work.
Amber is a self-proclaimed selective sports fan, watching both Man Utd and Formula 1 only when the stakes are high. With a love of both hiking and travelling, in her free time you will find her looking at lists of the top National Parks and planning her next holiday!
Ben’s significant recruitment experience includes engineering, housing, education and technology within the public sector. At Allen Lane, Ben specialises in recruiting permanent IT professionals across the public and not-for-profit sectors.
Ben is a big fan of most sports. He enjoys playing golf (badly), skiing and is a lifelong Spurs fan. He’s a keen DIY enthusiast and has renovated 3 properties and a proud father to his little boy!
A history graduate, Beth joined Allen Lane in 2007 after previously running an interim finance division of a large UK recruitment firm.
Beth is responsible for our Not for Profit, Housing and Education recruitment division and is hugely passionate about the charity sector in particular in which she has recruited peerlessly during her AL career.
Beth used to play the classical guitar until an addiction to having long nails won out! She has an intense fear of heights after being stuck at the top of a rollercoaster ride for over an hour with only billowing smoke and Mambo Number 5 playing on repeat for company! Beth is selfless with her time and a systems guru and has helped implement 3 CRM’s at Allen Lane!
Bryony joined Allen Lane in 2015 having previously spent 6 years in Milan working predominantly as a Brand Consultant within the fashion world. A UCL graduate and former AL “Performer of the Year”, Bryony specialises in the permanent, senior and executive recruitment of senior finance professionals within the Charity and Arts sectors.
Amongst Bryony’s claims to fame are over 8,000 friends on social networks, some of whom she actually knows, as well as being the only female guest at Paris Hilton’s private party in Milan. She is incredibly hard-working, optimistic by nature and loves spending her spare time with her husband, daughter and dog Rocco!
Born and raised in Essex, Chris is a Business Information Systems graduate from University of East Anglia, and an MBA graduate of 2019. He joined Allen Lane with 9 years of interim recruitment experience and specialises in interim IT and Digital recruitment in Local Authorities across the UK.
Chris is an avid fan of all sport and watches as much of it as he can in his spare time, especially when his beloved Arsenal are at home . When he’s not watching sport you can find him in the kitchen mastering his culinary skills, and has big plans to visit as many places in the UK as possible with his partner and daughter.
Ridhi initially joined Allen Lane to deliver talent for the Interim and Permanent IT teams before joining the growing Legal & Governance practice as a 360 Interim Recruiter in 2023.
Ridhi is from good old Streatham but moved to the states at the tender age of 15, returning in 2022 when Allen Lane came calling. Living in both the UK and US for so long makes for a pretty awkward accent. Most days she’s English and some days she’s American, depending on the weather. In her free time, she loves to travel, hike, explore new restaurants and try her hand at pottery.
Another ex-Morgan Hunter with significant experience, our 2022 “performer of the year” has several years’ experience recruiting accountants across the Public Sectors and beyond. Initially all things “education finance”, he has increasingly become a vital cog in our interim local government finance machine.
Simon is proudly the only person in Morgan Hunt’s 25 year history to win their prestigious George Miller award twice (an award voted for by colleagues to recognise company values in practice). He has a morbid fear of birds (pigeons in particular!) after being attacked by a neighbour’s chicken as a child.
Pujan studied Politics at the University of Nottingham before starting (via a stint in compliance) in IT recruitment within the public sector in 2010. After a ‘brief stint’ in Financial Services recruitment (5 years), she has returned home to what she knows best joining Allen Lane in 2023 as a specialist, permanent IT recruiter across the Public and Not for Profit Sectors.
Pujan enjoys watching football, supporting Liverpool and is a theatre enthusiast enjoying anything from small independent productions to big musicals. Pujan is a keen singer and dancer and AWFUL at both but adamant to show the world you don’t have to be good at what you enjoy!
Philippa joined us in January 2023 after previously leading a large interim Local Government Finance team for Penna, working in partnership with CIPFA. Our first external Director appointment, Philippa brings a wealth of expertise in interim, executive and permanent recruitment and recruits into, and leads, our Local Government (Finance) and Procurement practices.
Philippa has a few loves… including travelling, champagne, shoes, handbags and is a big foodie. Philippa recently adopted a rescue cat called Frank who, like her owner, is full of sass!
Niraj is from West London and has lived there all of his life. Shortly after finishing secondary school Niraj started his recruitment career at Morgan Hunt where he spent just under 5 years building a growing a public sector Legal and Governance team. At Allen Lane, his remit is to not only recruit permanent legal & governance professionals across the Public Sector, but to lead and build an outstanding L&G practice to complement our other service areas.
Niraj is passionate about aviation and travelling. He is currently working towards his private pilot’s license and managed to fly a plane by himself at 16. He likes to travel as much as possible and is aiming to have completed 35% of the world in by 2028. In his spare time, he enjoys watching football and socialising with friends and family.
A Londoner born and bred, Marco studied Business Administration at Kingston University before spending the best part of 10 years representing Global Interior Design brands before recruitment, joining Allen Lane in January 2022 since when he has specialised in Interim IT & Digital recruitment in the Central Government arena.
Marco is an avid sports fan and a fanatical Fulham supporter which often leads to mood swings. If he’s not watching sport you’ll find him exploring the best restaurants and bars around London – and he’s definitely the first one on the dance floor on a night out. He’s a keen traveller, has a love for exploring the world and visits America annually for the horse racing and culture.
Lester is a law & psychology graduate who was the first one to take the plunge and join Allen Lane in 2005 after a successful 6 years with Michael Page and has not looked back since. Lester is a Director within Allen Lane who has recruited in Central Government on an interim and consultancy basis for 15 years. He also looks after the ever growing Government Project Management Practice.
Whilst at a Government function at No.11 Downing Street, Lester got lost and accidentally navigated his way into the reception of No.10 to be greeted by armed guards curious as to what he was doing there! Lester loves his cricket and once accidentally hit Courtney Walsh for 6 and he has also run out two former Test cricket captains whilst batting with them. On an Allen Lane trip, Les met his idol, Shaggy and serenaded him with “Oh Carolina”, his karaoke ‘go-to’.
Laura joined the Allen Lane team as a Senior Consultant in our Interim NHS Finance team in 2023. Previously, she had run her own recruitment business in appointing senior professionals within the Health & Social Care sector having originally qualified as a nurse in 1998 before working her way through Registered Management into an Executive role within the Social Care sector. Passionate about supporting others, Laura is driven to deliver a personalised, high-quality, professional yet ‘human’ approach.
Laura has 2 children, Caitlin and Noah and fits right into Allen Lane as a karaoke expert who took this passion a step further by joining a band in 2010, when she became lead vocalist and fronted a Disco, Soul and Funk band!
Kieran graduated from the University of Essex with a 2.1 in Accounting and Finance, with the intention of having a high-flying corporate finance career before recruitment came calling (after a stint as a Vintage Wine Broker which we’re secretly more interested in). Since 2015, Kieran has been recruiting housing and property management professionals across the Public Sector – his remit at Allen Lane – as we challenge him with building the UK’s #1 Property Recruitment practice.
Kieran is an F1 Enthusiast, albeit his dream of being an F1 driver has not quite materialised. He is a keen traveller & explorer and has been to over 30 different countries. Not all 5 star though, he enjoys wild camping, hiking and mountain climbing.
Joshua has been in recruitment since 2020, and is part of our fast-growing legal and governance practice, specialising in interim and locum professionals, predominantly within the local government arena.
Joshua is passionate about cooking and travelling – shown by the fact that he is currently trying to master as many dishes from around the world as he can to become a MasterChef using some of the skills he picked up when living and teaching in Vietnam!
6 years into his recruitment career, Kane joined Allen Lane to amalgamate his own Local Government sector experience with our own. He specialises in placing interim finance and PM professionals across the UK.
Kane outside of the office is dedicated (borderline obsessed) with poker, having collected a few trophies from the West London Circuit. A dream of his would be to win the WSOP Main Event. Other than poker, he can be found playing golf (borderline terribly), basketball and is partial to baking from time to time.
Chris studied Politics at the University of Sussex and entered recruitment in 2005, at Venn Group and then Boston Hale before joining Allen Lane in June 2021. Chris heads up our interim Education finance recruitment team and specialises in mid to senior interim appointments within educational institutions.
Chris spends his weekends and spare time with his partner and daughter and is a passionate Watford FC fan and has been a season ticket holder since 1990. When not at Vicarage Road, Chris can be found listening to Oasis and Stereophonics whilst cooking some of his favourite dishes.
After graduating in Biomedical Sciences, Darshan facilitated setting up the UK operation of a multinational conglomerate before turning his hand to IT recruitment, joining Allen Lane in summer of 2022 where he specialises in recruiting interim IT & Digital professionals into Local Government.
A lover of relics from a bygone age, he’s most often found wondering around museums, antiques shops or in a dated car. Other pastimes include drinking copious amounts of tea, playing (very good) cricket and being in a love hate relationship with golf.

An ex-Royal Marines Officer Trainee, Jack specialises in permanent finance recruitment within the Central Government and Healthcare sectors.
Jack has been an avid rower since the age of 12 and has competed at Henley Regatta. He also enjoys a range of physical challenges involving great views, including skiing, rock climbing and mountaineering.
Jack graduated with a Law Degree from Greenwich University after which he spent 5 years at Morgan Hunt as a Finance recruiter into the Public Sector before joining Allen Lane specialising in permanent senior and multi-vacancy mandates in the Local Government arena.
Jack is a Londoner through and through, has never lived anywhere else and couldn’t imagine living in a quiet village. Despite that, he is a lifelong Newcastle United fan and is enjoying their new found riches. He used to bowl during his teens, and once won a national bowling competition and one day he plans to drive across America.
Joe joined Allen Lane in 2018 after three successful years with Venn Group specialising in Healthcare IT & Business Intelligence Recruitment, and has expanded his expertise combining contingent labour interim recruitment with driving and supporting Healthcare IT Consultancy programmes of work.
A long-time suffering West Ham fan and fashionista, Joe is partial to a bit of a sing-song in the office and once came off second best in a paintball shoot-out with Damian Lewis.
We were delighted to bring in John’s expertise and personality in 2017 to enhance our IT recruitment service offering. He had previously spent a decade at Venn Group and Keystream, where he established himself as a market-leading interim IT recruiter, and currently recruits interim IT professionals into Central Government and is the Director responsible for interim IT recruitment in Central and Local Government at Allen Lane.
John is a long-suffering Nottingham Forest fan, being far too young to remember any former glory days. He once met his namesake former BBC reporter and Strictly Come Dancing legend, John Sergeant, who point blank refused a “selfie” and moved back to Lincolnshire in 2023 with his young family.
Mike’s career before joining Allen Lane was completely focused on the Civil Service. He started his career delivering face to face services to the public before moving into a policy, strategy finance and project roles. He’s an accountant by profession and is the former President of his Charter Institute (the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA)). He has held some incredibly interesting and challenging roles, including the Chief Financial Officer at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), Head of the Government Finance Function at HM Treasury, Senior Responsible Officer for the Managed Quarantine Service, and Interim Permanent Secretary at the MOJ. We are privileged that Mike is our strategic advisor, supporting the CEO and the team to implement strategies and plans to deliver both organic and dynamic growth. His ambition is to help Allen Lane and its amazing team to become the recruiter of choice for the public and charitable sectors.
Mike spends most of his spare time with his family. He always has at least one book on the go at any time, and he plays bridge (mainly socially but sometimes more competitively). He loves Italian food, wine, and culture (including opera) and is lucky to have a house in Abruzzo. He also enjoys pottering in the garden, walking, and exploring London.
After graduating in English Literature in 2017 from the University of Leeds, Taylor worked in Operations at a college in his hometown Portsmouth for a year, before leaving the UK to travel Australia for 3 months. After falling in love with the Australian East Coast, Taylor decided to extend his stay and live in Sydney for a further 2.5 years before returning to the UK in 2021 to join Allen Lane. Taylor is a key part of the Operations’ supporting with payroll, invoice finance, and assisting with the onboarding processes for our interim practice. He has also proved a brilliant support on key projects.
In his spare time you’ll find him occasionally jogging and more frequently, with friends – a glass, or 2, of wine in hand.
Hailing from Durban, South Africa, Pips flew the SA nest after finishing High School to try out life in NYC and went onto complete a BA in Corporate Communication at Varsity College. It was towards the end of 2019 where she moved to London, just in time to begin life at Allen Lane before the pandemic took over. As part of our Operations’ team, Pips specialises in payroll, works closely with our managed vendor clients and also supports our permanent business activity.
Pips was one of the first people to understand the trials of undertaking a new role 100% remotely, having started at Allen Lane just 5 days before lockdown, and she thrived! Living so far from home, she cherishes spending time with her friends and family, in particular the annual family ski-trip.
Hailing from Adelaide, Australia; Miranda graduated with a degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She travelled to London in 2015 and never returned, and specialises in the implementation, execution and management of major projects; earning her our top performer award in 2022.

As a key part of our Operations team, Lauren works with the Local Government Interim team with their onboarding process, as well as assisting with payroll, the permanent team and putting her event planning skills to good use!
With roots in Zimbabwe, Lauren is a country girl at heart (especially when it comes to her favourite music genre) with a love for all things outdoors although Cape Town certainly brought out her city side and her passion for good food. Lauren’s weekends are filled with lots of park walks and adventuring around the city, catch-ups with friends, and most importantly attending her church service on Sundays.

He recruits IT professionals as part of our permanent Public Sector offering.
Following several shoulder dislocations Tom’s involvement with sports is kept safely on the side lines. He especially enjoys watching rugby, cricket or football and is a huge Welsh rugby fan (for his sins). At the top of his bucket list is to go on a Lions rugby tour!
Jemma went to the University of Leeds where she studied Psychology, beginning her career evaluating and working with prison inmates before “escaping” to the slightly less intimidating but equally fascinating world of recruitment as our Operations Manager at Allen Lane. CIPD qualified, Jemma’s role varies from policies and webinars to supporting interim candidates placed within the Central Government sector, as well as working on permanent recruitment campaign microsites. She also organises initiatives for fellow employees, such as Mental Health First Aid training, as our Well-being Champion.
Jemma enjoys going to the gym to unwind, is an excellent artist, visits galleries in her spare time and is partial to the odd pint of Guinness. No stranger to a Netflix binge, her favourite and most recommended show is American Horror Story which she’ll wait before sharing with her baby girl!
After making the big move from New Zealand to London in 2020, Heather spent her first couple of years in London nannying and studying marketing, and had her first taste of the operations world with Allen Lane when she joined us part-time in 2022.
