        Join the English National Opera as a Financial Accountant

        Hybrid working – 1-2 days in office

        Office located at the London Coliseum

        English National Opera (ENO) is the nation’s opera company, with distinctive work and creativity at the heart of what they do. Their mission is that opera exists for everyone, to create new experiences that inspire, nurture creativity and make a difference.  Based in the London Coliseum, ENO regularly take opera out to those who might not have experienced it before.

        ENO has an ambitious four-year creative strategy underpinned by exciting commercial and capital development plans that will transform the ENO’s ability to change lives through opera. They are going through an exciting period of growth and change that will expand operations into Northern England.

        ENO is now seeking to appoint a Financial Accountant. Reporting into the Head of Finance, this is a key role which will be instrumental to these growth plans.

        Key areas of responsibilities

        • Assisting with month end processes by processing various income and expenditure items including their reconciliation.
        • Preparing balance sheet accounts reconciliations on a monthly basis.
        • Preparing and submitting the quarterly VAT and withholding tax returns.
        • Working With the external tax advisors on Theatre Tax Relief claim
        • Overall responsibility for all capital expenditure including budgets, maintaining the fixed asset register and posting monthly depreciation.
        • Preparation of the statutory accounts including auditors lead schedules and lead on the audit.
        • To challenge financial processes and work with the Director of Finance to improve the control environment in the organisation.

        Who are we looking for?

        • A formally qualified accountant or qualified by experience accountant with relevant experience of financial accounting
        • Good communication and interpersonal skills both written and oral, able to communicate effectively with finance professionals, senior management and trustees, and non-accountants to achieve cooperation and results
        • You’ll be practical, pragmatic and enjoy working as part of a small team in a busy environment
