        Fantastic opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to join an outer London Authority to work within the Corporate Finance and Chief Executive’s directorate, supporting an inspirational leadership team.

        This is a highly visible Finance Business Partner role that will provide strategic support in all aspects of financial advice for the Chief Executive’s, Property, IT, HR, Marketing, Legal, Finance, Strategy, Risk/Assurance departments.

        This is a newly created role that will provide a full financial management service to the directorates including budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliation, month end/year end process with support of a Senior Management Accountant, as well as specific project work on strategic initiatives.  An excellent opportunity to use your experience to develop a best in class role.

        Responsibilities of the Finance Business Partner will include;

        • Lead financial improvement plan for a specific project with historical overspend, embed a budget monitoring process, train and support budget holders
        • Work closely with all stakeholders to ensure best use of limited financial resources, providing the strategic financial insight, intelligence and support needed
        • Act as a partner with the service leadership teams to develop, constructively challenge and support service plans and project delivery
        • Assess situations from a commercial, business or finance perspective; provide appropriate financial advice to support complex business decisions
        • Respond to government and professional consultations, implementation of best practice models and any other such requirements
        • Managing a team of one

        In order to be successful in the Finance Business Partner role, we are looking for a formally qualified or exam qualified individual (CIPFA/ACA/CIMA/ACCA) who has sound financial management experience gained in a similar role.  They will have excellent communication skills, with the gravitas to support the senior leadership team and wider stakeholders.  A sharp eye for detail and an analytical mind to scan the horizon for risks and opportunities, able to develop a strategic and workable response to the financial challenges the council faces in relation to the Services they are supporting are essential skills.

        We welcome applications from either local authority, not-for-profit and wider public sectors.  This would also be an excellent opportunity for candidates from the private sector entering into their first local authority role or would also suit someone stepping up into their first management role.

        Very flexible hybrid working arrangements, 1 – 2 days per month required in the offices in South East London/Kent border (only 12 miles from Charing Cross) so you could be based anywhere as long as you don’t mind a monthly trip to South East London/Kent!
