        Allen Lane are delighted to be supporting a local authority in London in their search for a Business Intelligence and Data Management Expert.

        As the BI and Data Management Expert you will:

        1) Develop the Councils Management Information assets and Business Intelligence systems, to support business decision-making, internal and external reporting requirements and automation of business processes.

        2) Be responsible for requirements gathering from the businesses across the Council, analysing, designing, building and supporting the IT systems to collect and manipulate the data, through to its presentation and development as reports or dashboards.

        3) Provide advice on enterprise Data Management issues, including Data Quality;

        • Ensure Data and Information strategy documentation is kept up to data and reflects current and future requirements for the organisation

        4) Develop the organisation’s Data Management capability and function to deliver and grow data management competencies that are required to achieve organisation’s vision;

        • Supervise and actively run a variety of key business processes for enterprise information platforms such as data warehouse management, analysis and reporting services
        • Develop key reports, dashboards and analytic services

        Essential knowledge, skills & abilities

        • A proven track record of experience in delivering information and data solutions to the satisfaction of the business user.
        • Expert in 2 of the areas below and working experience of the remaining area
          • Business Objects; System Administration via the Central Management Console (CMC) , Report development via Webi and/or Lumira, Universe design and deployment
          • Microsoft BI & ETL; SSIS, MS DQS, Visual Studio, PowerBI, SQL Server Management Studio
          • Warehouse design, development and maintenance
        • Demonstrable development experience in delivering reports, dashboards and data using a range of tools and methods across BI technology stacks
        • Expert in relational database technologies, data manipulation and SQL queries
        • Experienced in building and maintaining complex warehouses using multiple data sources
        • Experience in performance tuning reporting and analytical processes
        • Expert in Data Modeling including third normal form
        • Understanding of dimensional modeling using Kimball methodology or similar
        • Proven ability to interpret legislative and business requirements into technical systems / solution specifications
        • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to any audience.
        • Ability to report and present information effectively at a high level.
        • Experience in the creation and maintenance of a central ‘Master Data Repositories’ containing customer/property records from multiple services.
        • Proactively identifies opportunities through innovative use of cross departmental data analysis and takes this through to delivery and realisation of benefits.

        Qualification(s) and experience

        • An appropriate professional qualification / degree or equivalent experience:
          • e.g. Has (or is working towards) SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Business Objects Web Intelligence certification or equivalent relevant Microsoft accreditation
        • System Administrator or DBA experience with MS-SQL Server 2005/2008 and above
        • Practical Data modelling experience
        • Extensive experience of producing BI reports and analytics from multiple sources
        • Experience in building and maintaining data warehouses
        • To understand multiple sources of business information, and exploit the opportunities of combined data assets to enable the creation of new reports and reporting systems, whilst adhering to all legal and policy data controls.
        • To be very competent in the use of multiple software applications, such that data can be extracted, analysed and presented to the customers’ requirements, this includes but is not limited to relational database technologies (SQL, Oracle) and reporting tools (SQL, Crystal Reports, Business Objects).
