        Are you ready to play a pivotal role in supporting the heart of our Parliamentary democracy?

        The House of Commons is seeking an accomplished individual to join our team as Assistant Director and Head of Portfolio Performance within the Strategic Estates (SE) team.

        About Us

        The Strategic Estates team, operating on the iconic World Heritage site of Parliament, is responsible for the care, improvement, and innovation of the buildings and services vital to Parliament’s function. As an integral part of the House of Commons service, SE manages a diverse portfolio, overseeing major projects, maintenance, catering, and cleaning.

        Job Overview

        As the Assistant Director of the Portfolio Management Office, you will lead Business Performance, driving excellence in reporting and management. Working closely with Directors in Strategic Estates, you will shape and deliver high-quality controls, performance data, and assurance tailored to individual business areas. Your role includes providing strategic advice to the Managing Director of Strategic Estates, influencing value-driven investment decisions across the entire portfolio.

        Key Responsibilities

        • Deputy to the Director of Portfolio Management, supporting and deputising as required.
        • Lead reporting and analysis teams, risk teams, and scheduling teams, fostering relationships across Strategic Estates.
        • Provide independent analysis, judgment, advice, and recommendations on portfolio performance and risks to senior management.
        • Lead the portfolio risk and issue management team for Strategic Estates, overseeing a portfolio of £1.5bn.
        • Collaborate with Enterprise PMO and wider directorates to develop and deliver integrated system controls and portfolio reporting.
        • Contribute actively to the wider management of Parliamentary services, championing equality, diversity, and inclusion.

        Qualifications and Skills

        • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
        • Proven success in delivering business performance and management systems for large, complex businesses.
        • Skilled in developing reporting mechanisms in multi-layered governance environments.

        Desirable

        • A background in Construction and affiliation/membership with a relevant professional body.
        • Have an understanding or exposure to a variety of NEC Contracts for the Construction and Engineering industry.
