Day in the life of Sian Negal

Meet Sian, Business Manager within Local Government.

We know that Allen Lane is a great career opportunity for recruiters. But if you’re wondering what sets us apart or what our team get up to on a day to day basis that makes their career such a rewarding experience, then keep reading. We interviewed Sian Negal, Business Manager recruiting finance and procurement professionals into local government to tell us about her first hand experience. Here’s what she had to say about a day in the life of Sian Negal.

        A typical day for Sian

My days at Allen Lane are varied and genuinely no two days are the same.  There is much to do and often the priorities change as the day progresses!  A lot of my time is spent either on the phone or in meetings be it Teams or face-to-face.  Typically once I have caught up with emails and returned calls, there will be meetings with clients either to discuss new business or check in with existing accounts, as well as meeting with candidates either to discuss specific roles, interviewing for campaigns or more generally to see how I can support their job search.

I could be writing a proposal to bid for new campaigns, resourcing for roles, or arranging interviews.  As a lot of my work is retained, I will be working with our Comms teams to put together content for candidate packs or microsites, as well as writing compelling copy for advertisements.

My favourite part of the job

The best part of the job is making an offer to a candidate who you know is going to be so excited to receive the good news and wrapping up the recruitment – happy client, and knowing it was a job well done!

        I love Allen Lane because…

Everyone cares and wants to do a good job!

Why do you choose to stay at Allen Lane?

I feel valued, I find the work challenging and enjoyable. I love the people I work with. The culture in general is much kinder than any other recruitment business I have worked for and thankfully no narcissists or egos to have to suffer. The management genuinely care about us as individuals and do not make unrealistic demands.

What’s the best piece of advice you could give to a recruiter thinking of joining Allen Lane?

        To join!
