With our legacy firmly in the public sector, charities and not-for-profit, we’ve made a promise; to ourselves and to the professionals and organisations that we support. We’re committed to creating an inclusive and dynamic workforce within organisations, reflective of the communities they serve.
Welcome to our Allen Lane community.
Our pledge is simple. We do not discriminate.
Every day is one step closer to providing equal opportunity to all professionals. And every day we’re taking one more step in the right direction to achieve this. That’s because, as a recruitment partner to public sector, charities and not-for-profit organisations, we are uniquely positioned to not only advocate change but to actively facilitate diverse and inclusive hiring practices.
That starts with our people. Understanding and knowledge is instrumental to challenging biases. That’s why we deliver the development tools to support our recruiters support organisations to recruit fairly, on capabilities alone.
We’re acutely aware of the impact of the charity and not-for-profit organisations that we serve and we’re proud to play our small part in helping them make a significant impact to the people that need it most. It’s one of the reasons our people love working here and it’s a driving force of our employees.
So much so that they actively participate in fundraising activities for causes aligned to them. We always have, and will continue to, support and financially match both the group and individual fundraising activities of our people.
Here are our charity activities to date
Kilimanjaro
Charity
Shooting Star Chase
Amount raised
Climbing the highest freestanding mountain on earth was probably the biggest challenge our group has undertaken and one that we (Beth) are still talking about 5 years later. Battling altitude sickness, the cold and extreme physical challenges were certainly tough but the vital funds raised and the feeling of reaching the top made it all worth it!

Terrence Higgins Trust
Amount raised
Over £10,000
In autumn 2018, a team of 13 ventured to Transylvania, for our Transylvania Trek, in order to climb to heights of over 2000 metres fundraising for Terrence Higgins Trust. This is a cause close to our hearts, and we are proud of the substantial amount raised by for the Trust. Read more.

MIND
Amount raised
Over £4,000
Walking for 24 hours without rest is both physically and mentally challenging, and we are so proud of our team, taking part in our 24 hour Lake District Trek, who trekked through the Lake District to raise over £4,000 for mental health charity Mind in June 2017. Read more.

Great Wall of China
Charity
Shooting Star Chase
Amount raised
Originally constructed to defend China against nomadic tribes, the Great Wall of China stood no chance against our determined group from Allen Lane who conquered it in September 2015. Triumphing over the crumbling, twisting pathways and tackling thousands of steps, the team raised an impressive donation for Shooting Star Chase.

Sporting marathons
Charity
Various charities
Amount raised
Not only has the team taken part in running marathons, but also endurance marathons of other kinds. We even had our first employee complete an “Iron-man triathlon” in 2018. We have also had marathon golf days (4 rounds in a day), 9 hour long tennis competitions and are always looking for new ways to challenge ourselves and raise some much needed funds in the process.
